About Donating Art

Paintings, drawings, sculpture, music, and lessons in any of these are what generates a huge amount of revenue for these charities.

Ours is an experiential society - we see, we want to do, we want to live! And, we think, how better to do that, than to give to services not funded by the government?

On the following few pages, you will be able to read how one artist in Canada has decided to handle this situation, with suggestions on how the gifting of artwork can benefit both parties in a respectful manner.

Please send me an email if you find any broken links - we know how much the government likes to change things up so we can’t find them! julia at juliatrops.com. Thank you for reading!

If there is enough interest in a dialogue, then I will start a blog with discussion for these subjects. Contact me!

Income Tax Implications

Available are links to the Canadian government revenue service, Canadian Revenue Agency, as well as information for the United States government services, the Internal Revenue Service, on how THEY perceive the gifting of fine art, and other artworks to the charity groups. Other links that may be of interest to the artist or the charity groups are included as well.

The donation of fine art and other creative endeavours is big business for non profit organizations.
