Frequently Asked Questions
The majority of questions I receive fall in to two categories. The first, can I draw you from a photograph, the answer is yes. The second has to do with shipping.
Q: How do you price your works?
A: The quick answer is that all work is based on size. For example,
this means that all 6x8 inch oil painting artworks are $195
(presently). My art work has steadily increased in the past few
years. There is a standard 10% increase I apply each year. I would suggest you visit the
Ruby Lane Shop to look at art work in the medium you are
considering, to see the prices of each.
A more thorough
answer on the pricing of my work can be found here.
Q: How do you ship your art work, and
what will it cost me?
A: Shipping of artwork is calculated using dimensional weight, and
always includes tracking and insurance. If you are looking for
specific prices, please visit my
Ruby Lane
shop to see what similar sizes cost - remember if you make a
large purchase (over 5K) I will absorb the shipping if you are in
Canada or the US. If you live in other countries, you may use the
shipping calculator at Canadapost - my postal code is V1Y6Z1.
Designers, if you are interested in a group of works for a job you have, please contact me. I do work with wholesale, and discount is based on overall price and number of pieces.
Q. How do you work with commissions?
A. Commissions are always accepted. The majority of the time, I do not ask for any down-payment. If you like the work after I have finished, then you buy. I retain copyrights, which means you can not make prints or sell the work in any reproductive way.
For in person commissions, I usually follow this procedure: our initial session will be about half an hour - we will talk about poses, and colours, and the result you are looking for, and what I can give you. I'd like about a week or so to think about what we talked about before we go to paper.
Then the next session will be about an hour - I need to book the painting and drawing room for this one - this is where I do the drawings - then your part is done. In about two or so weeks, I will show you some paintings (if that is what you want) or finalized drawings (if you would prefer these). In person, I can take visa/mastercard, cheque, cash or moneyorder. Yes, I do take traveler's cheques, if you are coming here on holiday and would like to pop by. (As well, I should mention that I can send the work to you, so you won't have to take it back with you on the plane or the car - likely the paint wouldn't be dry anyway.)
For commissions done by photograph I will ask for some info about colours etc, and then I will do some paintings and send these to you via email. If you like what you see then you go ahead and purchase. Purchasing through the web can be by paypal, or you can send a moneyorder, or certified cheque. Please do not send cash.
Any questions on commissions, do not hesitate to contact me!
